Bearstone $4.54 A Dramatic Tale of Grizzlies and Gold Fourteen-year-old Cloyd Atcitty has been skipping school for years. He's run away from a group home for Native American boys, and is now being sent to work for Walter Landis, an old rancher on an isolated Colorado farm. In a cave above the ranch, Cloyd finds a turquoise carving of a bear. Knowing that his people, the Utes, have a special relationship with bears, he keeps the small stone, hoping it will bring him strength. A terrible blow-up with Walter ends in near disaster, but the old man offers Cloyd one last chance: they'll ride together into the mountains to reopen Walter's abandoned gold mine. Among the high peaks that harbor Colorado's last grizzlies, Cloyd's courage and loyalty will be tested to the limit. |

The Boyds $24.99 "This is both a chilling, yet gripping, saga of a noble people; warriors in the fight for Scottish Freedom; and leaders and followers of the Religious Reformation in Scotland. They were the Calvinists, followers of John Knox, determined to institute the reforms flowing from the Reformation in the 1500's. They fought valiantly despite persecution and massacre. They bravely signed the National Covenant of Scotland, and many became known as Covenanters. Hunted down like wild animals, many decided to make the short sea journey of 20 miles across the channel from southwestern Scotland to the Province of Ulster, Northern Ireland, which had been opened up to English and Scottish settlers in the early 1600's. While the Scottish, English, and some Huguenot settlers flourished in the Province of Ulster, Northern Ireland, the 'grin of the wolf' was not long in planning a tortuous massacre in order to exterminate all Protestants in the Province of Ulster, Northern Ireland. What followed was so horrific as to be scarcely fit for the printed page. Yet the Massacres of 1641 and 1688-91 are described in detail. Finally, with discrimination in their midst, unjust laws legislated against them, treated as second class citizens, many Scottish, English, and Huguenot settlers decided a greater destiny lay across the Atlantic where others seeking religious and civil liberties had preceded them. Their sojourn in Ulster, Northern Ireland had been a bitter disappointment. This bitterness against their British landlords carried over to America. The Scots from Ulster became the backbone of the American Revolutionary War. When Washington was in his deepest despair at Valley Forge, The Ulster Scots were with him. Thestory of the Boyd Family begins in Scotland, carries over to Northern Ireland, and follows them to the frontier of all the colonies in America. It could be the story of thousands of Scots who all experienced the same pilgrimage and endured the same hardships and sufferings." |

Boyds Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador $89.22 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Boyds Cove, also known as Boyds Harbour, is a small rural fishing, lumbering and farming town near Lewisporte in Newfoundland, Canada. A major Beothuk archaeological site at Boyds Cove was excavated by Dr. Ralph T. Pastore of Memorial University of Newfoundland. in the early 1980s. The site is now home to the Boyds Cove Interpretation Centre. Archaeological evidence revealed that Boyds Cove has been occupied intermittently for about 2000 years. BEOTHUK pit houses dating from the late 17th or the early 18th century have yielded stone tools lying nearby European artifacts. These tools helped to establish a link between the Beothuk and their prehistoric ancestors. Faunal analysis indicated that the site was occupied at least from late winter to fall, and that the Beothuk relied on both marine and land resources for their subsistence. Belle Boyd, in Camp and Prison, Volume I $49 First published in 1865, Belle Boyds memoir of her experiences as a Confederate spy has stood the test of time. Belle first gained notoriety when she killed a Union soldier in her home in 1861. During the Federal occupations of the Shenandoah Valley, she mingled with the servicemen and, using her feminine wiles, obtained useful information for the Rebel cause. In this new edition, Sharon KennedyNolle and Drew Gilpin Faust consider the domestic side of the Civil War and assess the value of Boyds memoir for social and literary historians. The Boys of Diamond Hill $45 In April 1861, brothers Daniel and Pressley Boyd left their farm in Abbeville County, South Carolina, to join the Confederate army. The Civil War soon swept their other brothers, William, Thomas and Andrew, as well as brother-in-law Fenton Hall into service. By the war's end, only Daniel survived. The extensive collection of letters the Boyds left behind, assembled for the first time, details their experiences across almost every theater of the war and offers commentary on many aspects of soldier life--from illness, death, and religion to friendly fire, desertion, and politics. Few families sacrificed as much to the Confederate cause as did the Boyds. Their letters remain a testament to their commitment and reveal the profound human impact of war. |

Robert Boyd (Stenographer) $119.48 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Robert Boyd (born April 10, 1870), of Russell, Ontario, Canada, was the inventor of a system of shorthand, Boyds Syllabic Shorthand. The system was first published in 1903, with a later publication in 1912. Boyds syllabic shorthand is a system of shorthand invented by Robert Boyd, published originally in 1903, and updated in 1912. In this system, symbols are distinguished both by orientation and shape, with the shape representing the vowel and the orientation the consonant. Thus, ab and am would be represented by the same shape of mark (in this case an Lshape), oriented differently; and ab and eb would be represented by differently shaped marks, oriented the same way.
