If you're looking for blinds for a large window, there are several option. Most people opt for vertical blinds in this situation, since they're easy to install and operate, but they certainly aren't the only choice available to you. Horizontal blinds will work for larger windows as well, but you need to be aware of a couple of things before buying.
Window blinds for larger windows generally come in more than one piece, since a large single blind is often too heavy to work effectively. This is something to keep in mind when ordering blinds.
Your first option is to order two window blinds that hand on a single headrail. In this setup, each blind has its own controls but they both hang from the same headrail.
This makes installation easier, since there is only one headrail to install and you won't have to worry about the spacing between the blinds or ensuring that they hang evenly. The drawback to this setup is that while operating the blinds is easier by splitting them up, the total weight hanging on the headrail is still quite high. You need to ensure the rail is mounted in such a way that it can support the necessary weight.
The second option is two blinds and two headrails, with a valence to hide the rails so it is not obvious that there are two separate blinds.
When hanging blinds in this arrangement, you'll need to ensure the center mounts are touching so the blinds look like a single unit when hung, as well as being careful to align the blinds vertically so they hang evenly.
Buying two separate units is generally the less expensive option, since most suppliers charge more for a single headrail with two blinds.
Provided the blinds are installed properly, it is difficult to tell the difference between the two layouts once they are in place. They will operate the same, since there are two blind controls in either case.
