If you are a wine lover and live in the beautiful southern state of Kentucky, all of your Christmas and birthday gifts may have just come as once. Kentucky residents are eligible to join one of the most respected wine club's in the United States, and membership is not extended to any beyond those who live in the state itself - a quaint tradition in today's modern obsession with growth and capitalism. Unlike most, this Kentucky wine club has remained true to its original mission statement, and has nevertheless become one of the most enjoyed wine clubs in America. One refers, of course, to Elk Creek Vineyards Kentucky Wine Club.
While the general purpose of a this type of club is for like-minded drinkers to band together and enjoy the fruits of a new season and old vintages, Elk Creek has transformed itself into so much more. This Kentucky club began its existence as a mere commercial vineyard in 1798, planted by the Marquis de Lafeyette. In the next century, this small commercial success saw itself expand to become the third largest grape and wine producer in the United States.
Behind the front of the modern wine club is the true history of Elk Creek, which is its vineyards. To this day, it is a commercial producer of a range of wines which are exclusive to it. What is impressive, however, is how a vineyard has transformed itself into an all round amazing experience for any lover of wine.
The highlight of the numerous offerings of Elk Creek is, of course, its club. Membership is offered in two levels, Gold and Platinum, depending on how much you wish to spend (upgrading membership is available throughout the year and is applicable to your next order). Upon joining the Elk Creek Kentucky club, you will receive quarterly wines shipped directly to your door - providing that door is in Kentucky.
There are other perks to joining the club, including exclusive offers and discounts for the main vineyard at Elk Creek. The membership to the club is free, with each quarterly cycle of wine being billed individually - a practice which will help endlessly in keeping track of finances. The main source of enrolment is online, though you can visit the vineyard directly and join there.
Which brings us, of course, to the vineyard itself. From small acorns mighty oaks grow, a philosophy for which the Elk Creek wine club is an effortless example of. The small fields of the original vineyard are now built to incorporate tours and hospitality, as well as a guest Lodge which features a bed and breakfast service if one day's visit simply isn't enough. One can also relax in the on site spa facilities, which include massages ideal for those who have overindulged the day before.
The Kentucky theme is continued apace, with a variety of home made spices and sauces available to purchase along with a wide choice of wines. There is also a fantastic range of gift merchandise, all of which is themed with wine - such as corkscrews depicting the wine club name - which make a fantastic accompaniment to any gift for a wine lover. Coupled with the wine club and its range of exclusive wines, this all makes the Elk Creek Kentucky Wine Club one of the best in the business.

The Dante Club $7.99 A New York Times Bestseller Words can bleed. In 1865 Boston, the literary geniuses of the Dante Club—poets and Harvard professors Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes, and James Russell Lowell, along with publisher J. T. Fields—are finishing America’s first translation of The Divine Comedy and preparing to unveil Dante’s remarkable visions to the New World. The powerful Boston Brahmins at Harvard College are fighting to keep Dante in obscurity, believing that the infiltration of foreign superstitions into American minds will prove as corrupting as the immigrants arriving at Boston Harbor. The members of the Dante Club fight to keep a sacred literary cause alive, but their plans fall apart when a series of murders erupts through Boston and Cambridge. Only this small group of scholars realizes that the gruesome killings are modeled on the descriptions of Hell’s punishments from Dante’s Inferno. With the lives of the Boston elite and Dante’s literary future in America at stake, the Dante Club members must find the killer before the authorities discover their secret. Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes and an outcast police officer named Nicholas Rey, the first black member of the Boston police department, must place their careers on the line to end the terror. Together, they discover that the source of the murders lies closer to home than they ever could have imagined. The Dante Club is a magnificent blend of fact and fiction, a brilliantly realized paean to Dante’s continued grip on our imagination, and a captivating thriller that will surprise readers from beginning to end. The Hunt Club $11.99 It started with a body, the head of it pretty much gone, the hands skinned. We found it the Saturday after Thanksgiving, out to Hungry Neck Hunt Club. Uncle Leland owns the Hunt Club, which might make him sound important, or rich. But he's not. Huger Dillard is no ordinary fifteen-year-old from the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He may not have a father to help him grow up, but day-to-day guiding of his blind Uncle Leland--Unc, for short--and weekends spent at the Hunt Club have made him an expert on the habits of deer, the pompous attorneys and doctors of nearby Charleston, and the ways of the world. But with Unc's discovery of a mutilated body, Huger suddenly learns that he is expert at nothing--least of all his own life. Everything he knows and everyone he loves--Unc, his mother, his foundering teenage romance--is at risk, and Huger must use every ounce of resourcefulness and bravery to stay alive and protect what he believes in. Yet, when he finally discovers precisely what happened that Saturday morning, there is still one more secret to uncover, this one too dark, too deep, for him to even imagine. From Bret Lott, the critically acclaimed author the Los Angeles Times called "one of the most im-portant and imaginative writers in America today," The Hunt Club is a novel of deft pacing and remark-able detail, and a sultry evocation of a land and culture that has existed for generations but soon may be lost forever. The Holy Club $15.99 "This book includes a modern application of the teachings of the Holy Club's methods of sanctification. The focus is how one walks with the holy Creator of the universe. O warn them (it may be they will hear your voice) against "continuing in sin that grace may abound " Warn them against making "Christ the minister of sin;" against making void that solemn decree of God, "Without holiness no man shall see the Lord," by a vain imagination of being holy in Christ O warn them that if they remain unrighteous, the righteousness of Christ will profit them nothing Cry aloud, (is there not a cause?) that for this end the righteousness of Christ is imputed to us, that, "the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us;" and that we may "live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world."1Our focus today tends to be not on the glory of God and is on ourselves. Our love is for freedom and self-service rather than obedience and love of God and others. When our rights become more important than pleasing God we are short of doing the will of God. Here you will find a pathway to enhance your ability to seek God and His presence. May God help the churches repent and return to the Means of Grace for the specific purpose of seeking holiness and finding God in Christ.1.The Works of John Wesley, 3rd edition, vol. 5 (Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Book House, 1998), 244-245." |

King of the Club $12.99 Rags-to-riches stories abound in American lore, but even Horatio Alger would have been hard-pressed to write one as powerful as Richard Grasso's: the son of a working-class family whose childhood dream was to become a cop. He grew up in New York City's outer boroughs, far removed from the marble halls, expensive suits, and imported cigars of the New York Stock Exchange. Here is the riveting story of how he rose to become the most influential CEO in the Exchange's history. Minus the tony upbringing, affluent prep schools, or inside connections that were de rigueur for top Wall Street players, Grasso would master the subtle deal-making and politics necessary to succeed in the most competitive business on Earth. But despite his successes, Grasso would soon sow the seeds of his own downfall, an event that would change the Exchange forever. The King of the Club paperback edition, featuring a full update on the story, chronicles the amazing rise, fall, and possible rise again of Richard Grasso, and also tells the modern history of the all-powerful institution that he came to symbolize: The New York Stock Exchange. |

Club Sandwich $9.99 Hey, Friend– Do you know what it’s like give to 100 percent and still feel like it’s not–and you’re not–enough for anybody? To be caught between caring for an aging parent and raising young children? I lived in that place for four years. Ivy Schneider lives in this place, too, and she isn’t at all happy about it. Her husband Rusty spends ten months a year on the road singing in a gospel quartet, and her mom gets sicker every day, requiring increasingly more care and time. Ivy’s dad took off years ago but still comes around–for free meals. Her brother and sister are more than happy to let responsibility rest on Ivy’s shoulders. Maybe she could handle it all if only her darling three-year old terror, Trixie, would just “go” on the potty. Who will take care of Ivy while she takes care of the world? No one, it seems. Then Ivy runs an ad in the paper to find folks like herself: women of the “sandwich generation,” squeezed between the demands of raising young children and caring for an aging parent. Soon she and the other women of Club Sandwich are building uncommonly deep friendships, witnessing the reality that in fact no woman can be everything to everybody, and discovering firsthand that they can do more than they imagined possible with the help of each another and with a strong dose of faith. If your life is about caring for others, I dedicate this book to you. Welcome to the club. You are most definitely not alone. Grace, Lisa From the Trade Paperback edition. |

But he has never seen a case quite like this one. No one doubts that the murder of Eddie Como was a professional job, especially when the gunman is killed only blocks away from the shooting. But questions taunt Griffin: Who ordered the deaths of Eddie Como and his killer? Could three ordinary women have been driven to do he unthinkable? Had someone in the Survivors Club become a killer? Griffin seeks the truth--and finds himself confronted with the leader of the Survivors Club. Jillian Hayes is beautiful, successful, cool as ice, and she harbors a pain that mirrors Griffin’s own. Suddenly, with the city on the ragged edge of panic, gripped in a media and political firestorm of controversy, cover-up, and conspiracy, the hunt is on for a ruthless and cunning killer.
