It's not a dream, ladies and gentlemen. You can actually lose weight without dieting. Some of these tips might sound silly or even stupid, but each one is backed up by countless studies. These work plain and simple, and you don't even have to change what you eat!
Drink Water
Slurp up. Drinking 8 8 oz. glasses of water every day has tons of positive effects:
- increased metabolism
- fills you up during meals so you naturally eat less
- you won't confuse hunger with thirst
It also has one noticeably negative effect: you'll be running to the bathroom a lot. Don't worry though, that will stop after a couple of days.
Why It Works:
Your liver handles the burning of your excess body fat. It also helps out the kidneys run more efficiently when they need help. If you drink a lot of water, your kidneys will be running at maximum efficiency all by themselves, and your liver won't have to quit burning fat to help with the kidneys.
Use Smaller Plates
This is definitely the easiest tip to lose weight without dieting. You know that feeling when you're absolutely stuffed, and for some reason you still feel the need to finish off those last few bites? Smaller plates to the rescue! You can fill up and not feel the pressing need to stuff yourself. This one may sound goofy, but it actually works.
Why It Works:
If you had to clean your plate as a child, it very well could be linked to that. Either way, your brain takes visual cues to help you decide when you're full. If there's food left on your plate, you may not think you're satisfied even when you have plenty of food to get you to your next meal.
Eat Slower
Do you ever turn on the TV or pull out a book at dinner only to look down at your plate and wonder where your food went? We've all been there. Eating slower and paying attention to what you eat can help. There are several ways to slow down. Chew your food at least five times and swallow completely before taking another bite. Put down your silverware after each bite and don't pick it up until you've swallowed. And finally, don't talk to your eating companions until you've swallowed.
Why It Works:
Your brain doesn't start to register the "full" feeling until your food gets to your intestines. It takes about 20 minutes before your food gets through your stomach, so the more food you pack in during that 20 minutes, the greater chance you'll overeat before you feel full. As an alternative, you can clear your small plate (since you followed the last tip) and wait 20 minutes before you decide if you want to go back for seconds.

The Companions $10.9 Humankind has arrived on Moss to discover if any intelligent native life exists there, and to assess the planet, recently discovered by the Derac, a nomadic space-faring race, for development - and profit. Multi-coloured shapes of dancing light have been spotted; strange sounds are heard in the night; the researchers name them the Mossen and send for a linquist to ascertain if it is evidence of intelligent life. Jewel Delis has accompanied her half-brother Paul to this verdant paradise. Her task is to help Paul decipher the strange language of the Mossen - but she has a secret mission too. A new law on Earth means the imminent massacre of all beasts great and small, so Jewel must discover if Moss holds the promise of sanctuary for the doomed animals - once humankind's beloved companions. Time is running out for Jewel's creatures, but it might be running out for Humanity too: the Planet Moss, itself a living entity, is not sure it cares for any of the species currently living on its surface . . . |
