Lice Hair - How To Kill Lice And Eggs

Head lice are human parasites and require human blood to survive. They can live on a human host for approximately thirty days and cannot survive longer than twenty-four hours off the host. A female louse lays up to three to give eggs per day. It takes seven to ten days for the eggs to hatch and another seven to ten days for the louse to mature and lay their own eggs. Symptoms of head lice can include having an itchy scalp, seeing red bumps on your child's scalp and neck, seeing live lice moving around on your child's head, and finding nits (lice eggs), which are tiny white oval shaped specks that are attached to the sides of hairs.

So now, the question is this: How to kill lice and eggs?

The method that is advocated by The National Pediculosis Association is to simply remove the nits and live lice with a lice comb and/or tweezers. This method may be time consuming, and you may have to repeat the procedure for several days to make sure that you get them all. However, this method is likely the best thing to do especially if you don't want to use a chemical on your child's head. Besides, even if you use an anti-lice shampoo, you still have to take the time to comb out all of the nits anyway because these shampoos don't kill the eggs. If you don't, they will just hatch and you will have live lice again.

What you have to do, then, is to purchase a metal long-tooth lice comb and a small magnifying glass. The comb teeth should be approximately 1.5 to 2 inches in length. Shampoo your hair, and use the fine-toothed comb to remove lice after shampooing.
