The dream of everyone who plays baseball is to hit a home run. Hitting a home run is a great feeling, and if you can hit more than one in a game then you will find your popularity increasing.
So how can you improve your ability to hit the ball in this all American game?
Perhaps the most valuable and useful advice for anyone looking to improve their hitting skill is to think about hitting the ball in the middle. If you concentrate on learning to hit the ball in the middle then you will find it much easier to adjust to hitting the ball wherever it is pitched.
If you go up to the plate and are hoping to pull the ball, you are going to end up struggling to hit an outside pitch. You will find that your front side has opened up too soon and you won't be able to drive a pitch on the outside part of the plate.
In baseball, balance is vital, especially when it comes to hitting the ball. Whilst you can move your body it is important that your head stays still whilst your body moves. This is difficult to do if you do not have good balance.
Your mindset is also very important when it comes to hitting the ball. You need to think positive and focus on what you are doing. A lot of batters make the mistake of going up to the plate worrying they are going to miss the ball. If you do this, then you are likely to miss the ball. Go to the plate thinking to yourself, "I'm going to hit the ball" and just repeat it to yourself again and again and again.
You also need to watch the pitcher's hand and keep your eye on the ball. Whilst you need to be aggressive and focused on the plate, you need your body to remain loose and relaxed. If your arms become too tense then you will lose your advantage of good wrist action for your swing and reduce the power behind your hit.
When you are in batting practice, make sure you have a purpose to each swing. For example, in the first round of your batting practice you may focus on hitting each pitch to the opposite field, and so on. By preparing yourself for game situations the practice will be really helpful for you. Should you find yourself in a slump, concentrate on defense in your batting practice. Remember that it doesn't always take a home run to win the game!
Whether you are playing as an adult or in a youth game, the whole team as well as the individuals need to have a positive mental attitude. Negative coaching will not help the team morale, but positive confidence will boost it immensely and help the hitting, pitching and fielding.
Hitting a baseball is not as easy as it may look to the novice player and practicing your batting is going to help you improve your skill. One of the best ways to practice is to get yourself a baseball pitching machine. There are many on the market to suit all budgets and skill levels. With your own baseball pitching machine you won't have to rely on finding a pitcher to practice with and can practice whenever you want. Remember, the more practice you do the better hitter you will become!

Run $9.99 Since their mother's death, Tip and Teddy Doyle have been raised by their loving, possessive, and ambitious father. As the former mayor of Boston, Bernard Doyle wants to see his sons in politics, a dream the boys have never shared. But when an argument in a blinding New England snowstorm inadvertently causes an accident that involves a stranger and her child, all Bernard Doyle cares about is his ability to keep his children—all his children—safe. Set over a period of twenty-four hours, Run takes us from the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard to a home for retired Catholic priests in downtown Boston. It shows us how worlds of privilege and poverty can coexist only blocks apart from each other, and how family can include people you've never even met. As in her bestselling novel Bel Canto , Ann Patchett illustrates the humanity that connects disparate lives, weaving several stories into one surprising and endlessly moving narrative. Suspenseful and stunningly executed, Run is ultimately a novel about secrets, duty, responsibility, and the lengths we will go to protect our children. |

Run for Home $5.99 It's 1985. A man is hunted down and killed by a woman assassin known as The Headhunter. Seventeen years later, his body turns up, and detective inspector Lorraine Hunt is called in to investigate. The day the body is found, Claire Lumsdon is the victim of a violent kidnapping - the third in a series of abductions of young girls. For her sixteen-year-old sister Kerry, it's the beginning of a nightmare. Kerry's got enough on her plate already - her alcoholic mother isn't remotely capable of looking after Kerry and her five siblings, so Kerry and her older brother Robbie must make sure there's food on the table. Convinced the police can't help, Kerry sets out on a frantic search for her sister. But her hunt leads her to much more than she'd bargained for: Newcastle's gangster underworld, a seventeen-year-old murder; and, finally, the secrets about her past - and her father - that her mother hoped she'd never have to face. And all the time, the clock is ticking for Claire. |
