Organic Alfalfa Leaf Uses

Organic alfalfa herb is readily available online from dried herb and spice merchants, and also comes as bulk organic alfalfa herbs.  As you browse online, you will discover that Organic Alfalfa Leaf is available in both cut and sifted as well as powdered forms, which are sold in bulk or encased in capsules.  Organic alfalfa herb is also produced in a kosher version as well.  With the common names of lucerne, purple medic, Buffalo Grass and Chilean Clover, and the Latin botanical name of Medicago sativa, Organic Alfalfa Leaf is thought to have many medicinal and nutritional +uses.

Although alfalfa is commonly used as a feed for cattle and horses, organic alfalfa herb is also processed and used as a dietary supplement for people.  Organic alfalfa herb contains large amounts of calcium and protein, as well as several important vitamins, including A, some B vitamins, C, D, E and K.  Leaf meal made from bulk organic alfalfa herbs is commonly added to special diet and baby foods for the nutrient advantage it offers.  It is important to note that alfalfa should not be taken by those with systemic lupus erythematosus or auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, and should not be eaten by anyone in large quantities.  

Organic Alfalfa Leaf may help increase urine flow and may act as a stimulant.  It is commonly taken as a tonic to generally improve wellbeing, and organic alfalfa herb may reduce fever and internal bleeding.  It was used in traditional medical practices as an appetite stimulant and to improve weight gain.  Bulk organic alfalfa herbs may help to relieve pain and may offer an antibacterial quality.  It may offer a mild laxative effect.  Bulk organic alfalfa herbs may also bring on vomiting.

The seeds of alfalfa plants are sometimes used to make a yellow dye.  An oil can also be extracted from the seeds, which is used in making paints and related products.
