However, during use, there may come the time when the favorite pieces from your basket collection need a little TLC to keep them looking their best. Fortunately, these handmade accessories are easy to care for - here we discuss a few easy tips to keep them looking like new.

Longaberger baskets are handmade using maple weaving. Like other wooden products, there are a few common sense tips you should remember. First, avoid placing them in direct sunlight. Sunlight will cause their rich maple color to fade. Also, to avoid drying out the wood, never place them near vents. Keep them dry and away from damp areas to prevent warping.

During use, your pieces may pick up spots or stains. To clean, the first thing you should try is warm water and mild soap. Make sure to wring out your sponge or cloth well, before gently attempting to remove spots or marks from the maple weaving. After washing with water and mild soap, let them air dry before refilling or putting back into place.

If water and soap do not do the trick, don't despair. For those difficult to remove spots, use a Mr. Clean brand Magic Eraser. Moisten the Magic Eraser with mild soap and warm water, then give it another try. No matter how stubborn the stain, make sure you only take a gentle approach. Scrubbing may cause fading. Again, give your baskets time to air dry.
