A good-looking house is a desire of every lady. Housekeeping and cleaning is another thing that most women wish to have. You would have clean room flooring to give it a tidy look, and bring in Dycem products to present an overall squeaky clean look. At other times, you would bring in different furniture to change the overall appearance of your house. One such way of beautifying the overall appearance of your house is to use a large aquarium. However, you cannot just go and buy a large aquarium, fill it up with water and some fish. There are a few things you need to keep in mind before you install one in your house.
Your floor is where the aquarium will stand. Therefore, it is the first thing you need to keep in mind. The floor must be able to bear the weight of the aquarium along with the weight of the water. A large aquarium will use around 334 lbs of water. With it, add the weight of an empty aquarium, and the stand that will keep the aquarium firm. Make sure your flooring will be able to stand the amount of weight. For this reason, a concrete floor is best to support a large aquarium.
The next element is where the fish belong, water. You need to consider the fact that installing a large aquarium will involve great maintenance, as well as a great amount of water. While you are repairing and cleaning it, a lot of times water may splash around the area. This might damage the floor and the furniture around. For this reason, it is better to have a floor that is easy to mop and maintain. You can have tiles or vinyl on your floor so that even if the water spills, you can mop it easily. Another alternative for this would be water resistant concrete. Wiping water from concrete will also be an easy task.
Algae might be another factor that will affect the placement of a large aquarium. Algae might grow on the walls of the fish tank if sunlight falls on it. This will not only be tough to clean and maintain, but it will also affect the total ecosystem of the fish. For this reason, avoid keeping it in the area that normally receives sunlight.
If you are thinking that water alone would be a home to fish, think again! A fish tank will also have some power requirements and fixtures. You will have to install overhead lights, more than one filtration systems, aeration systems, a set of heaters, etc. For this reason, you should keep it next to a wall so that all the power requirements are easily fulfilled.
Once you have installed it, you need to maintain it well. A large fish tank will require frequent cleaning. It is better to keep it in a place that is near to your water supply. This will be helpful when you are cleaning it, and taking dirty water out of it. When you are done, add colorful fish of nearly the same size, and provide a great look to your house with a fish tank.
