Although most people think that the teddy bear has been around for hundreds of years he is in-fact a relative new comer to society, arriving just over 100 years ago, making him younger than the light bulb and electricity.
The name Teddy Bear comes from former United States President Theodore Roosevelt, whose nickname was "Teddy". The name originated from an incident on a bear-hunting trip in Mississippi in November 1902
Since then he has always been a popular member of our society, enjoying life long friendships in many homes across the world. More recently his popularity has increased dramatically thanks to the world wide web.
