Weapon choice can be made difficult by the extensive history and relevance behind these ceremonious armaments. Understanding the main uses and some short history on each one may help you to decide on which Klingon weapon best suits your needs.

The Star Trek universe has a deep history, made colorful with battles for power. Klingons are for the most part antagonists and their battles through history have been well documented. Klingon weapons have evolved over time and the bastion of the weapons, the Bat'leth, is more recently been used more for ceremonies than for fighting the enemy.

The Bat'leth is a two ended sword in a crescent shape that is of formidable size. There are four pointed ends; this traditional Klingon weapon has three handholds. Typically a Bat'leth is a daunting 48" long weighing in at a little over 10 pounds. Used more for ceremonies than battle, these ancient weapons are as striking as they are intimidating.

The Bat'leth has seen victory in many Klingon battles. Bat'leth's are traditionally handed down from generation to generation like the one owned by Worf. This Bat'leth had been handed down through 10 generations before being used by Worf in an honorable battle that saw him defeat Duras.

The Bat'leth is the most commonly known weapon but it isn't the only weapon used in battle and ceremony. The D'k tahg is another common weapon, much smaller in size. It is similar to a throwing knife with three pointed edges. Two smaller blades protrude from the sides upon release making it equally aerodynamic and frightening. The blade is usually less than one foot in length and it is usually the weapon choice where concealment is the nature of the game.

Other Klingon weapons are used for torture and ceremonies of endurance such as the painstick. This long rod delivers power at the push of a button and is used at close range to incapacitate not kill. Another popular Klingon weapon resembles a Bat'leth but is a rather large knife rather than a sword. This type of weapon is called a Mek'leth.
